Important Info for QW Players and Servers

In this zip file are four maps, (Temple of D'oh, The Ormöz Complex, UltraViolence, and GunMetal) and a light sprinkling of skins (including the Durg skin), plus an all-important server.cfg file.

The maps and skins should go in their respective maps and skins directories within the qw directory. The server.cfg file should also go in the qw directory. When the server is run this will automatically rotate the four maps at 15minute/15 frag intervals and set the remote control password to "tuesday".

This'll allow us to keep control of a server if the operator decides to go AFK (away from keyboard).

QuakeWorld 2.3

QW optimises Quake for internet play, speeding things up significantly. If we can all get it installed for Sunday it's going to be much more fun.

QW2.3 is the latest version and runs on my MAc and your PCs hurrah!

ICQ

ICQ is a useful bit of comms software for messaging, chatting, and transferring files. We use it to "meet up" before playing Quake. It can be had from http://www.mirabilis.com

Meet on ICQ at 10.30am.

We all have QW so one of us will launch the server and the rest join. The QW server person will need to be able to launch the client program as well, and adjust his config files to allow the OS time to run the server. Either that or be generous enough to run the server and not play (Sasha?) If no-one else volunteers then Giles'll be server.
Alternative Plan!!:
We could also try taking over an unused dedicated public server with a low ping, if one can be found.

If possible, Joe or Si should be server - they've got the fastest machines afterall!
